Takeover

I want each and every one of you to get as pumped up and excited for Guerrilla Girls Takeover Week as I am. The Guerrilla Girls are a group of female artists who wear gorilla masks and fight for equal rights in the art world. Feminism is something I am super passionate about because I want to know that myself and all other females have the same opportunities as males, and being able to witness a group make history like these girls have and will, makes me unbelievably excited.

WAM Collection Feature: Julia Jacquette

The collection of the Weisman Art Museum is vast and extensive, containing far more works than the museum can display, which is why we have decided to share an artist a month to feature the hidden gems in WAMs collection.

Stylists

Each year for the WAM Design Showcase, stylists from Juut SalonSpa in Uptown volunteer their time and talents to help the Showcase designers’ visions come to life for the runway. I sat down with lead stylist for this year’s Likeness Showcase, Stephanie Domrose, to chat about how Juut fits into the theme of this year’s designs: “How Do You Become You?”.

When studying a work of art, at the Weisman or any art museum, individuals inspect every element that completes the piece, whether it be color, subject, or the use of space, to interpret the artist’s intention. Lighting is a particularly significant element.
