Slow Art Reflection

The Slow Art Day Watercolor Workshop was held in the Shepherd room at the Weisman Art Museum. There were 6 tables neatly organized with four watercolor palettes and boards on each table. I spent the morning helping the instructor, Jim Mondloch, set up the paints and water containers in the corresponding spots.

Color

On Friday, April 15th from 12:00pm – 6:00pm the WAM Collective will be participating in World Art Day at Northrop! This event is an awesome opportunity for us to get to know the campus community and showcase our team’s artistic talents with our new hand-made coloring books. Work by artists Elise Armani, Laurel Darling, Lexi Herman, Katie Covey, Iris Page, Tara Sullivan, Lindsey Budde are included.

Simple

Earlier this week, as I was babysitting a 7 year old and an 8 year old, I thought it would be fun to do a little baking. I was looking through recipes and could not get over how many ingredients were included in each one. I think it is important to take a step back sometimes, use fewer materials, and gain a better understanding of each ingredient.

Reel Injun

Sitting in the Shepherd room on a small chair while clutching my book, I waited for  Reel Injun to get started.  The film (screened at WAM by WAM Collective and Missy Whiteman) focused on the struggles that Native American people face when they are labeled a “savage.” The directors essentially highlighted a few notable movies in the “Western” genre, and broke them down, explaining how each film built up a wall, or maybe enlightened some audiences with a unique perspective.
