Key visitor amenities and exhibition spaces of the Weisman Art Museum (WAM) are arranged on the main level (button 1R in the elevator).
Main Entrance and Visitor Services:
Upon entering the museum through double glass doors, visitors arrive at the main lobby area.
Directly ahead is the Visitor Services front desk where guests can obtain information, check out sensory bags, and access assistive listening devices.
First Floor Amenities:
Galleries: The first floor houses several exhibition galleries, including a large featured gallery. These galleries are designed in an open floor plan with walls and large openings between spaces. The Target Gallery, located on the left side of the museum and accessible via a door behind the WAM Shop, houses Open Studio—WAM's self-guided art making activity space.
Events & Programming spaces: The Dolly Fitterman Riverview Gallery, William G. Shepherd room, and William B. "Billy" Weisman Seminar room are available for private events and public programs. All three spaces are located to the right of the Visitor Services desk.
Restrooms: A fully accessible, single-stall, gender-neutral restroom is located behind the Visitor Services front desk, accessible via an alcove to the left of the desk.
WAM Shop: Situated on the main floor, located on the left when entering from the main lobby, the gift shop offers a selection of art-inspired merchandise.
Second Floor Features:
Restrooms: Fully accessible, gendered, multi-stall restrooms and a water fountain are available on this level and can be reached via elevator or stairs. Navigate to the left when exiting the elevator to access these restrooms.
Navigation and Accessibility:
Elevators and staircases connect all public floors, including the Art Museum Garage.
The museum's layout typically takes about an hour to explore, allowing visitors to experience the full range of exhibitions and amenities at a comfortable pace.
