Robert Clark Nelson

The WAM Files exhibit features a series of exhibition posters from the 1960s that can all be attributed to the same artist/designer. The 15th Avenue ‘Gateway’ Mural Project: Uniting Students and Long-time Residents

When an artist creates a piece of art, they produce something visually connected to the viewer and to themselves. If a group of people design and create a piece of art together, they make a life-long connection with one another, which is shown in what they produce.

The 15th Avenue 'Gateway' Mural project was the idea of a graduate student who walked under the 15th Avenue underpass and saw this dim space as a “blank canvas” and a way to build community.

Welcome, from WAM!

We have reached that time of year again – Welcome Week – the week-long series of events that welcomes a fresh crop of new students to another University of Minnesota academic year.  Over the course of the next few days, thousands of students will be moving into their dormitories. Parents and friends will be helping these students haul all sorts of personal items – televisions, video game systems, laundry baskets, etc.

Settling In

Autumn is starting to settle in on campus - the leaves are starting to change, the light in the sky has taken on an amber hue and there is palpable excitement in the air. In the meantime, you can get your WAM fix by stopping in next Wednesday 9/19 for the film Second Nature, The Biomimicry of Evolution at 6:30.
