I needed a big city to contain my wacky thoughts, and the U felt like home the minute I arrived. I remember loving the "dinky" town, the incredible specificity of some of the student groups (people-watching club anyone?), and the sheer coolness of the art/music scene. I'll never get over the fact that native Minnesotans call soda "pop" instead though. Not cool, people.
What does sustainability mean to you?
There is a phrase in Swedish, "lagom er best," that roughly translates to "just enough is just right." I think this sums it up better than anything I could try and put together in this language.
I love the idea of healthy moderation. I try to cook at home whenever possible, and I always like to think about where my food is coming from. I also recently learned that the City of Minneapolis composts! Awesome!
Cafe Alma! My eyes first opened to the true beauty of the world after a sip of their glorious vanilla latte.
What’s your favorite holiday?
April Fool's Day! Fun fact: it's also my birthday!
Asia Cruz is a senior studying Marketing and Design, and she is the Events Chair with WAM Collective. She enjoys thinking creatively to answer life’s toughest questions: what is the most efficient way to solve a problem? What are we working on that we can do even better? And how many licks does it really take to get to the center of a lollipop? She also loves weird music, peanut butter, and doodling.
