WAM Collective is now accepting applications for Fall 2016 membership! This is the perfect opportunity for those interested in planning events inspired by current exhibitions, working closely with arts professionals, collaborating with other student groups, and promoting the museum across the UMN campus.
We're always looking for new ideas and new perspectives. Please fill out a quick online application by September 12th 2016 and we will be in touch after the deadline has passed.
Some of our current members reflect on their experiences thus far:
graduated from the University of Minnesota in 2017 with a BFA in Studio Art and a BA in Gender, Women and Sexuality Studies with a minor in Art History. Elise is an artist and an independent curator and was the Weisburg Curatorial Fellow at WAM.
Asia Cruz is a senior studying Marketing and Design, and she is the Events Chair with WAM Collective. She enjoys thinking creatively to answer life’s toughest questions: what is the most efficient way to solve a problem? What are we working on that we can do even better? And how many licks does it really take to get to the center of a lollipop? She also loves weird music, peanut butter, and doodling.
Meg Kelly is a senior studying Strategic Communication with minors in Spanish and Design. In her free time she can be found listening to 22, A Million on repeat and watching Modern Family reruns. She thinks Goldy is the cutest mascot in the Big 10 and has been known to get super nervous whenever Goldy is in sight because he is her biggest crush. Go Gophs!
Layna Mestad I’m a senior majoring in Strategic Communications with a focus on Art History and Museum Studies. I’m Minnesota born and raised and am a lover of the north shore and antique shops. I love to find a quiet corner amidst the hustle and bustle of the Twin Cities to curl up and read a book, most likely about the happenings of the sixties. Art and history make me intrigued in the world that surrounds me. I will forever be a student to that fascinating combination. I am so excited to be a part of WAM and promote this museum to the university community and beyond.
Iris Page I’m a senior English major at the University of Minnesota. Outside of the WAM-sphere, I perform in shows with my friends in the Twin Cities, paint, and work. I enjoy travelling alone and good smells. Cheese is my kryptonite. I own too much floral print. This will be my third year with WAM Collective!
Kaitlin Rahon I am a junior at the University of Minnesota. I am majoring in Marketing while pursuing a minor in Art History. I am originally from Southern California, and although I occasionally miss the constant sunshine, I love living in the Twin Cities. My passions include biking, hiking, and reading. I love art, whether I am drawing during my free time, or learning about brilliant artists. I am also a member of the Women’s Gymnastics team here at the U! Going into my second year as a member of the WAM Collective, I am very excited to continue spreading my passion for art and building a strong relationship with the members and staff.
