Rest & Repeat
How can we use drawing as a tool for rest?
In the spirit of The Ascendants VIII (Local Natives), use this space and time for restful making. Set a tabletop timer for as long as you have– 5, 10, maybe even 20 minutes. Don’t check your phone, and allow your mind to wander as you draw. Inspired by the fluid, painterly patterns that abound in The Ascendants VIII, you’re invited to draw repetitively using the tempera sticks provided. Can pattern-making become meditative? Notice the fluid movement of the tempera stick on paper, and allow your mind to meander just as smoothly.
Drop-in, Self-Guided Art Activity
Throughout the year, WAM presents self-guided art-making activities inspired by an art piece, exhibition, or artist from the museum's collection. Everything you need to make your own masterpiece is provided and the activity is designed to be accessible and open to all. Drop-in during open hours and get creative!
This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a Minnesota State Arts Board Operating Support grant, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund. Additional general operating support is generously provided by Ameriprise Financial.
