Additional Details

Join the Weisman in celebrating Día de los Muertos, in collaboration with Centro Tyrone Guzman and artist Monica Vega. Originally from Mexico City, Monica now works for a nonprofit in the Twin Cities where she teaches art to children, mothers, and older adults. As an altarista, Monica gathers her artistic practice and inspiration from her familial roots in Michoacan, Mexico. The Day of the Dead is deeply personal to her and she loves teaching people of all ages about its meaning and traditions.

The community ofrenda will be on view October 30 – November 2, 2024.

Celebrate on Saturday, November 2, from 2-5:00 p.m. for a community gathering featuring music, refreshments, and art-making activities.

About the Organization

As the oldest and largest Minneapolis-based multi-service Latine organization, Centro Tyrone Guzman is proud to represent a diverse group of staff and community members. Founded during the Chicano Movement of the 1960s, local artists, scholars, poets, and students united forces to uplift, support, and celebrate Chicane and Latine culture. Today, the organization continues to build an inclusive culture that honors, supports, and celebrates the diverse voices of our community.
