Become an Impact Visitor at WAM

The Weisman Art Museum is participating in a nation-wide research study on the Measurement of Museum Social Impact (MOMSI) from September 2026 through May 2027. During this study period, participants are invited to make three visits—framed as "Impact Visits"—and asked to fill out a survey on their experience. The MOMSI study defines social impact as the effect of an activity on the social fabric of a community and the wellbeing of the individuals and families who live there. The resulting information should help to provide WAM, and other museums around the nation, to co-create how art shapes us—and how visitors shape the art-focused spaces we all inhabit.

If interested, prospective participants are requested to fill out a recruitment form. The Weisman will reach out to chosen participants who meet the basic criteria of the study cohort. Admission to the Weisman is always free but as a token of appreciation, participants will receive WAM merch and validated parking (for the three Impact Visits) to the Art Museum Garage located directly underneath WAM.

The Measurement of Museum Social Impact (MOMSI) project addresses the critical need of establishing best practices for measuring social impact within the museum field. It advances museum practice by measuring the social impact museums have on visitors and developing a tool for museums to better understand their social impact on individuals and communities. MOMSI will test the scalabaility of a tool developed in Utah nationwide to provide museums of all sizes the opportunity to measure their own social impact.
