WAM Travel Program

The Weisman Art Museum is part of the Museum Travel Alliance (MTA), making it possible for Weisman Confluence members to access an exclusive selection of intimate, expert-led trips, created especially with art-lovers in mind.

What kind of opportunities will WAM-specific trips offer in the future? Highlights from our most recent trip in March 2024 can give you a sense of what it will be like to travel with other Weisman members in the future.

2024 Weisman Mexico City & Oaxaca Trip Highlights:

  • An after-hours private tour of the Museo Nacional de Antropología, experiencing its vast collection of artifacts from the Aztecs, Maya, Olmecs, and other cultures without the crowds
  • A visit the private home of a famous Mexican artist and his fashion-designer wife, a contemporary mix of concrete architecture, unique artworks, mismatched furniture styles, and sculptures by Reyes, creating a harmonious space where the couple lives, works, and creates
  • Before-hours tour of Casa Azul, the home of Frida Kahlo and now a museum dedicated to the life and work of this iconic Mexican artist
  • Private studio visits with Mexico City leading artists, learning about their art and seeing their works in progress
  • Experiences in Mexico City’s exciting contemporary art scene through visits to some of the city’s most influential art galleries
  • A special tasting session of mezcal, the region’s famous smoky spirit made from the agave plant
  • Visits to UNESCO World Heritage Sites including Oaxaca’s archaeological powerhouse, Monte Albán, the capital of the Zapotec civilization between 500 B.C. and 800 A.D.
