The Weisman will temporarily close its galleries and in-person shopping at the WAM Shop to allow for maintenance inside the building over the summer. The museum will be closed to the public beginning May 17, with plans to reopen in fall 2021.
Join us on Wednesday, May 19 at 7:00 p.m. (CDT) for a talk, conducted via Zoom, by Dr. Allissa V. Richardson, journalism scholar and author of Bearing Witness While Black: African Americans, Smartphones and the New Protest #Journalism (Oxford University Press, 2020).
Registration is now open for the 2021 WAM Teacher Institute! This year's workshop will be entirely online June 22 – 24. Educators will explore links between art, writing, and creativity in their own teaching alongside community artists, including Marcus Young and Robin Hickman.
During the spring 2021 semester, WAM Director of Public Programs and Student Engagement, Katie Covey Spanier, collaborated with Lindsey Strange, UMN College of Design Professor of Apparel Design, on a unique curriculum integration project that resulted in a pop-up exhibit titled "Fashioning The Future: Using Unconventional Materials to address Society’s Wicked Problems."
