Explore the processes that art and writing share. In this 3-day (June 25-June 27, 2019, 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.) participating teachers will explore WAM’s galleries and learn strategies to help build visual and verbal literacy with their students. You will work alongside artists Marcus Young 楊墨 and Hawona Sullivan Janzen in the museum’s galleries to:
- Practice strategies for teaching critical thinking skills and encouraging students to perceive more to build their own meanings.
- Explore possibilities to infuse 21st century skills in teaching across curriculum.
- Enjoy time to collaboratively plan and share ideas within a professional community.
The Institute is open to teachers of all disciplines and of students in all grades. Participation is limited to 30 teachers.
