The Art Mob is a group of supporters who enjoy special invitations to meet artists and attend unique events throughout the year. For members and donors at the Collector level and above, the Art Mob meets for studio and collection tours, artist receptions, and other exclusive activities for themselves and a guest.

The 2018–19 Art Mob season:

September 2018

Erik Noren, affectionately known as "the Liberace of bicycle frame building," is owner of the custom frame shop, Peacock Groove. Join us for the first Art Mob event of the season and learn about the artistry of bikes. You might recognize Erik’s name from the recent exhibition, Prince from Minneapolis, in which his custom-built purple bike honoring the legacy of Prince was on view.

October 2018

Explore the Khazana gallery with owner Anju Kataria. Khazana is a gallery, a boutique, and a community gathering space featuring exquisite textiles, jewelry, and folk art—sourced predominantly from India, where Kataria grew up, and also places such as Uzbekistan, Indonesia, and the Philippines.

November 2018

Enjoy a private viewing of local art collectors Bob and Mary Mersky's home collection. The Merskys have been collecting art for years and have donated to collections around the Twin Cities, including Mia and WAM.

March 2019

Minneapolis-based photographer Katherine Turczan has extensively traveled Eastern Europe capturing post-communist life through portraits. A recipient of the Guggenheim Fellowship in 2011 and a Fulbright Fellowship in 2010, she focuses on themes of trauma, identity, and heritage.

April 2019

Hear from Jack Zipes, published author and folklorist, who has published and lectured on the subject of fairy tales, their evolution, and their social and political role in civilizing processes. Held in conjunction with WAM's upcoming exhibition The Wonderful World before Disney.

May 2019

Join us for a private tour of Hair + Nails, a contemporary art gallery owned and operated by Ryan Fontaine and Kristin Van Loon. Hair + Nails is dedicated to exhibiting compelling and thought provoking visual art, as well as providing a space where new work, new ideas, and new collaborations are sparked and able to flourish.
