New

This semester still feels new. WAM Collective is still falling into a new rhythm with all of our new partnerships, programs, and members. It seems that everyone has just figured out their schedules. There is still a white blanket of snow on the ground and the promise of endless creative possibility in every class, meeting, and event.

Please join us in welcoming a fresh batch of creative, driven students to the WAM Collective family! These are our new Spring 2016 members.

Hailey Brumley Studying Business and Marketing Education as a sophomore, I dream of working one day with a magazine and hopefully traveling all over the world. Minnesota will always be home, however, I cannot help but wish there were mountains. The arts have always been a part of my life – if not singing, acting, writing or taking photos, I am usually reading or running or with my family. I have worked at the Weisman as a guard for the last year and a half and have finally decided to see a different side of the galleries by joining WAM Collective and could not be more excited!

Lindsey Budde I am a sophomore majoring in Supply Chain Management at the University of Minnesota. Originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, I have a gained a new passion for the cities in the past year and a half. Outside of WAM, I spend a lot of time working within MSA and Senate, but also enjoy drawing, online shopping, Chipotle, and watching HGTV. This semester will be the start to my first year at WAM, where I can’t wait to work with the museum and community within the Collective!

Laurel Darling I’m a freshman hoping to double major in Art History and English. I’m originally from a tiny town in South Dakota, but I love the hustle of the Twin Cities. Along with the Collective, I’m involved with the Tour Guide program at WAM. In my free time (when I have it), I spend time with my friends, visit museums, travel, read, and window shop. Oddly enough, I enjoy old movies, discussing politics, and British history.

Kimberly David I’m a junior studying Art History and minoring in Art. I’m from the northwest suburbs of Chicago, Illinois and plan to move to Downtown Chicago after I graduate. I love big cities and I can’t imagine ever living further than an hour away from one. I’m usually working or doing school work, but when I’m not, I enjoy painting, cooking, being a complete fool with my friends, and eating everything in sight. This is my first year joining WAM Collective and could not be more excited to see where this organization can take me!

Born and raised in Stillwater, Minnesota, I’m a natural fan of outdoor activities, tremendous amounts of snow, and the Twin Cities. I am in love with writing about the world around me, as well as experiencing it with my family and friends. I’m proud to be a part of the artistic community at the U and engage in the wonderful work that the WAM does to enhance the city that surrounds it!

Keith Murphy As a Studio Art and Psychology double major here at the University of Minnesota a lot of my time is spent walking back and forth over the Washington Avenue bridge. While walking on said bridge my thoughts wonder from cross cultural psychology to types of bookbindings to my next overseas adventure. When I’m not traversing the Mississippi river I’m taking the OED Certificate of Equity and Diversity, or trying to grow something new in the greenhouses.

I am president of the UMN Philosophy Club, a philosophical discussion group that promotes inclusiveness and open-mindedness. I love connecting with others and hearing new perspectives. I am a huge nerd about music and movies. The importance of art and creativity is often overlooked. As a new member, I am excited to be a part of WAM collective and help promote art in our community.

Haily Schmitz I study Architecture in the College of Design here at the U, along with a minor in Urban Studies. I love traveling, food, and everything creative. Outside of my work here you might find me serving tables out on Lake Minnetonka, jamming to some hot tunes, or more likely snuggled in bed with my Boston Terriers Oliver and Luna. I’m excited to work with the WAM Collective and bring more creativity and artful thinking to students on campus!

Tara Sullivan I’m a Junior/Senior in the Graphic Design program, and I’m minoring in Mass Communication as well. I’m fluent in English, Japanese, and really awful Spanish, and I have way too many hobbies to count. The top five include: drawing, video games, eating, sleeping, and knitting. I hate being bored, and I look extremely intimidating in public, but please come and talk to me! I hate being alone and love talking to strangers.

Riss Veurink I am a sophomore at the University majoring in Business Marketing Education with a minor in Leadership, and I will be working with the Sales Center on campus this semester as a student council member. I am currently obsessed with coloring books, chunky jewelry, and perfume. By the end of the semester I am sure it will be something new. A constant love of mine, however, is local music. It started with metal, and has since evolved thanks to so much passion in the cities.
