JOIN WAM’S ART MOB!

Support WAM and go behind the scenes! 

Art Mob is a group of WAM supporters who enjoy special invitations to meet artists and attend unique events, like those below, throughout the year. For a minimum contribution of $300 per year (or $25 + monthly), you have access to special Art Mob experiences, customized for our group of WAM enthusiasts, creating moments of connection that enhance our creative community and help us get better acquainted with one another. This year’s events include private artist-led exhibition tours, an immersive artist’s studio visit experience, and a WAM-curated behind the scenes look at the Midwest Art Conservation Center (MACC).

September 12, 2017

Join us for a private home tour with long-time art enthusiast and life trustee of the Minneapolis Institute of Art, Beverly Grossman. Her private art collection is housed in her stunning residence that overlooks the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden.

October 16, 2017

Explore the studio of Minneapolis-based painter Leslie Barlow. Primarily an oil painter, Barlow employs the gure and narrative elements in her current work to express issues of multiculturalism, “otherness,” representation, and identity. Barlow received her BFA in 2011 from the University of Wisconsin-Stout and her MFA in 2016 from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design.

Best known for his large-scale public installations, photographer Wing Young Huie takes the everyday life and creates cultural portraits that challenge commonly held
beliefs. Wing’s extensive national work through lectures and workshops engages all ages to re ect on our changing cultural landscape. Join this special tour of his studio and project space for an evening you will not forget.

April 10, 2018

Minneapolis-based photographer Katherine Turczan has extensively traveled Eastern Europe capturing post-communist life through portraits. A recipient of the Guggenheim Fellowship in 2011 and a Fulbright Fellowship in 2010, she focuses on themes of trauma, identity, and heritage.

Additional Art Mob events will be confirmed for November and May.
